Web design
Clear navigation and great experiences
I have been fascinated by the web since I was eleven and got my first book on HTML and JavaScript. In my web designs I like to keep things visually simple and elegant. By watching people use my sites I learn about how to make the experience more enjoyable. I’m not afraid to put experiments away and try out a better option. Also, I like keeping up to date with web technology developments and believe in writing high-quality code.
For psychology consultant dkp I have been creating sites and apps since 2005. I do not only design web services that are clear and helpful to people who suffer from issues, but also advice dkp about a proper web strategy.
When a fashionista approached me to create outfit-sharing site Mode Vandaag, I looked at the styling of existing sites and magazines. By quicky building a first version I could incorporate user feedback to make the image uploading and editing experience as easy as possible.
Choosing a meeting time can be a complex task. Pleft helps by letting invitees indicate possible dates and giving a clear overview. It has gone through multiple iterations. I paid extra attention to making the forms as efficient as possible. Users do not get confronted by needless sign in forms and menu structures.
Wat kost een taxi? makes it easy to look up the maximum costs for a cab. Just enter a destination and everything is calculated. I designed the interaction flow so that information is provided as soon as the question is clear. Users can then learn more by switching routes and trying out more passengers.
For my ID studies I present and reflect on my work every semester in a web-based showcase. I improve upon the layout and navigation every time. As it contains a lot of information, I researched typography and experimented with ways of writing to make it available on several levels.
Project reports do not need to be boring booklets. For the Tiltimer project I created an interactive report. It is nice to go through and alternates between pictures, written evidence and videos.
