Office Puck

A soccer tournament game

Every bit of physical activity helps to increase office employees’ vitality and performance, and to decrease absence from work. With Office Puck, an unobtrusive tournament game is introduced to the office. Employees are invited to play during breaks while getting the small amount of activity that helps to keep them going.

Watch the scenario video

After a literature review and questionnaire, my team generated hundreds of ideas during several creative sessions. I enjoy brainstorming with groups and believe that finding the wildest ideas helps identifying the best ones.
Through quick experiments with prototypes, I explored what was necessary to create the right mechanics. I wouldn’t want office employees to slip when accidentally stepping on the Puck.
The game is supported by the device’s intelligent behavior as seen in the video. In order to experience the gameplay and tweak the feedback to be exactly right, I built a working prototype using Arduino.
How to motivate people to keep playing, even after the first five minutes of trying? Based on the highly successful betting pools and the client’s business experience, I designed a corresponding service system that will keep users engaged.
