Math

...

Before ID I studied Mathematics with Informatics. I enjoyed the studies and consider pure math a beautiful subject. It's a great experience to 'see' an elegant mathematical proof, fully understand it and explain it in clearly written text. My math and programming skills help when designing with science. It has also made me a strongly analytical, structured thinker.

Studied
September 2007–January 2011, BSc
Graduated
Cum laude with a minor in Informatics (computer science)
At
University of Amsterdam
By applying projective geometry, we could make two reconstruct 3D objects with two Wiimote infrared cameras. A thorough understanding of the basic theory helped when creating algorithms.
Puzzling and formulating formal proofs is a lot of fun. But in practical and complex cases simulations can be very illustrative. I have developed strong programming skills in Matlab and other languages so that I can quickly try things out.
With my knowledge of linear algebra and algorithm theory, I have learned to program 2D and 3D rendering software.
In my bachelor’s thesis I studied the theoretical basis of different computer vision methods. I could understand new theory and explain it to researchers in different faculties. This is a valuable skill for me as a designer in multidisciplinary teams.
